An old Fella

Mack the mastiff looks soo sad in these photos doesn't he.

Mack has been off his food.
Cooked sausages won't tempt him - which is what he has been eating for months. Maybe he is just over sausages.
He is only wanting to eat cooked porridge with a nob of butter - if hand fed. (The length an animal lover goes to tempt and old faithful fella).

He did eat some gourmet poodle food - tinned food for small dogs...

Other than being picky with his food he is happy.. a tad cantankerous barks to go in and out... and as he is old he gets to play on this .... we let him in and out... but how can you growl at an old fella?

    1. oh this is pretty much what happened to Mack. We have been buying human grade sausages for him and cooking them for him which he would eat. It is porridge now... a trip to vets next week if he doesn't pick up. (I had him booked in yesterday but he ate so cancelled) I know we are on borrowed time - he will be 11 in June a very old age for a mastiff.

  2. Oh, what an old sweetie. We have an old cat who is pretty much in the same boat. Eating pretty well, but mostly sleeps. He is almost completely blind so only goes out now with a chaperone and doesn't want to stay out very long at that. So sad to think of how he used to run around all day and come up on the garage roof at night to be let in the stairwell window. Guess he has had a good run though and deserves some cosseting at this point.

    1. Yes I agree Vic - the hard part is most of our pets are getting old all at once - I suppose what happens when you get many at the same time. My cat Laura has aged suddenly too - has the old spine feel. She is eating and still top cat so she is doing well.

  3. Oh bless him, he is a sweet old man. No doubt he won't like the cooler weather.

    1. That is the hard part - he wants to be outside more than inside. Such a worry

  4. Oh poor old Mack. It's so hard seeing them get old. Bet he's secretly enjoying all the extra pampering though.
