Pretty Woman moment

Day 20 of  a photo a day project.
Bright...  lots of bright hats to choose from....

If you've been following the blog for awhile you probably know I am not a fan of shopping so knowing this we have begun now looking for something to wear to The Garden Party.

First shop was a high end department store in Wellington to look for hats....

Not one sales assistant came over to help me.
CRAZY as I had money to burn folks....
So since no one was taking any notice of me
I decided to try on CRAZY hats and take photos (I've always wanted to do such a thing in a POSH shop) I seem to be getting naughtier the older I get...

We spent a nice sum of money at Annah.Stretton

The service and attention was FANTASTIC!!! Abbey came out with a wonderful dress to wear to the Garden Party.  The store manager Marlena listened to what Abbey wanted and she spent dedicated time showing us different styles and wonderful suggestions. You could tell she loved her job and really knows what looks good on women.
Marlena was awesome!!! We will be back to Annah Stretton Wellington store!

The day of shopping really felt like I wanted to do a Pretty Woman moment to some of the other stores we had walked into and say "big mistake"  Giggle.

Next is shoe shopping.....

  1. Ha-Ha, I have to laugh, we had the almost same thing happen to us so many years ago, we wanted to buy a "Grandmother clock", it was a late Friday night, pouring, I wore a bright yellow slicker raincoat and sensible leather lace up shoes!!!, we asked, the salesman said " I am sorry I have this one BUT it is $39.95" !! So apologetic about the price that he obviously thought might be beyond us!!! We went up to see Peter and Lois Ayson, and still have the beautiful Grandmother clock, in burr walnut. It is all too easy for us to be misjudged..., sales people should be trained to greet and treat everyone well... good on you to go to Anna S, Abbey, waiting to see your lovely outfit. Jean.

    1. Being a bank manager before children. I know what is in people's bank accounts and I can tell you the majority of the time the folks with the most $$$ don't look like they have $$.

    1. OH YES Annah Stretton might just be dangerous as I lose weight... so many beautiful dresses. I was blown away by the service it was much much more than just handing a garment to try on. I'm looking forward to my turn there.

    1. I love the movie Pretty Woman too. Maybe I need to go shopping carrying label bags to get customer service? But now I know about Annah Stretton I'm gonna just shop there. Once my degree is finished I'm gonna be wanting some pretty clothes to wear to see clients and oh my there were so many beautiful clothes... I am looking forward to getting back into the working world again. Had a meeting with a rep yesterday and it was so fun having coffee/meeting and needing to get out of gumboots and jeans.

  4. Hiya Leanne, Just had to pop in & comment. While shopping for a dress for my sons wedding recently ... by far the absolute BEST service I got was in Annah S & I ended up buying my outfit from them. So I have a black bag just the same as Abbey's. Then I went online & got a belt to match (from Annah S) but when it arrived it was a different red, so the store just swapped it for me for the right colour. Definately great customer service there. Also, that movie is one of my alltime favourites & I could watch it every single day :-)

    1. Oh you wanna see me around home (as most do when they drop off cats). I just love my gardening clothes - old faithfuls with holes. Actually I could go to the garden party like that. Folks will just think I was the gardener.
