Friday 13th

The fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia - "Frigg" is the Norse goddess whom Friday is named after and "triskaidekaphobia" means the fear of "13".

There is lots of folklore's and superstition about black cats, some even see black cats as unlucky

GASP!

Some people consider it is bad luck if a black cat crosses their path.

If a black cat walks towards someone, that person will have bad luck.
If a black cat walks away from someone then that person will have good luck.

"A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere."
 Groucho Marx

Sometimes it happens that a black cat just lets you pass in front of it
.
It is claimed Pope Gregory IX (1147-1241) hated cats and started the feline holocaust that would last almost five hundred years. In a Papal Bull (1233) he condemned the black cat as diabolic and thereby giving his blessing to the torture and killing/burning of cats

Black cats have often been looked upon as a symbol of evil omens,
specifically being suspected of being the
 familiars of witches.

In ancient times black cats were worshipped as gods; they have not forgotten this

Black is slimming, holding your black cat will make you look slimmer.

PLUS it is a full moon tonight what fun to have a full moon on a Friday 13th - for us here in the Southern Hemisphere it is known as the Cold Moon, Oak Moon, or Long Night Moon - it is the full moon nearest to Winter Solstice. Its the time of year when there are more hours of night than day - ask the boys they leave in the dark for work and come home in the dark.

PLUS it is Mercury and Retrograde - oh my (SMILE)

Don't yea just love the wine I brought Brent - Moonstruck

Hand crafted with grapes gathered in the still of the night,
Moonstruck is made for those who like to
howl at the moon.

I'll wave to you all tonight while I'm sitting under the moon light and will hope for a cloudless night to get some full moon photos.
Do share if you get any full moon photos too.

  1. I, too, hope for no clouds, this morning it was brilliant as it sank to the west, I just missed a photo as it passed behind the Elm Tree, maybe tomorrow . Enjoy that wine. Cheers, Jean.

  5. Hi, I found you via Octoberfarm, I love your blog. I'm Victoria, from Brushstrokes...how cool that Friday the 13th is on a full moon for you! Here in Southern California they just miss each other. Maybe next year...

Love the photos of the black kitty, hate the stupid superstitions that cause stupid people to harm black, and other colors, cats. I have two black cats, Stella and Gloria, plus ... well, lets just say several cats of other colors, too!

    Blessings,

    Victoria
