Getting a peek into your site's usability.

I followed a link, (as you do!) to Peek where you submit your blog and then a random user videos their experience of visiting the blog.

My random person was a man - here is his webcam thoughts of visiting .

It's made me wonder if other people are having sizing problems viewing the blog?

Is the side bar distracting to you too?

It also made me wonder what content people would like to see less or more of on the blog?

If you get a chance I'd sure appreciate some feedback on the above.

Get a peek into your site's usability.: See and hear a 5-minute video of a real person using your site.

  3. Wow - that was interesting Leeanne. I just have to give you my thoughts ... I never, ever have any sizing issues reading your posts. Never. I found the quotes you have down the side was one of the first things I read on your blog & they really attracted me to it ... especially the one about being normal !!!!!
I found myself grinding my teeth listening to that man giving his interpretation of your blog - I find it really easy to read & I must admit I have learnt heaps about loads of different issues following along with your posts. You are always so informative but you write in a way that is easy to read & understand. So I found myself thinking "how come he doesnt know what a farm stay for cats is??" Perhaps he was a city boy & had never heard of this?. I like seeing snaps of your day & how you live on your small acreage. I enjoy seeing the different animals you picture & their little personalities. Like me, I feel, you try to also laugh a little at yourself at times & try to take things a little lightheartedly. Well I will get down off my soap box now but please dont change what you do & most especially your moon posts which I look forward to each month. Oh & by the way ... I know how long it takes me to do a post & I am always in awe of how often you post as I can barely manage once a week. Happy Thursday to you. Perhaps they should ask me to review blogs!!!!!! x0x0x Julie

    2. Thanks Julie! Blogging began as a journal of our days and then it evolved into a form of gratitude as in the many dark hard days it pushed me to find something fun and positive to write about and before I knew it we were living a simple life and the daily simple things became the focus - sure helped get some of the rough past 6 years with illness. So I suppose its been a form of therapy that has actually helped me stay positive. My writing is never polished and I know ex school teachers read the blog they must shake their head reading my grammar at times. Polished writing is for study - just wrote 10 pages of fancy words today and my head is sore. Night night. and thanks for giving me feedback it sure helps!

  4. I agree with Julie, Leanne. I think we tend to find blogs that interest us - and I seldom visit a blog that's not within my area of interests, just because of how I got the address or where I have linked from.
I have never had any of that sizing issue or jiggling from side to side and maybe because I am familiar with the 'blog layout', it all makes total sense to me!
The other issue is the different language/use of that we have from country to country - isn't that part of the fun of it all - learning about each other etc?
    Keep up the great work!!

  6. What a great but kind of scarey concept! I just sent them my url so I'll find out in a few days what they think.

I do have a sizing problem with your blog, my monitor is 19 inches. I think it's the double columns on the right, because if it was just the first column it would all fit in my monitor.

You have a lovely blog and I'm enjoying reading about your adventure into Naturopathy. Way to go!!!

    1. Hi Lorraine lovely to see you here. I bet you will get a kick out of listening and watching what someone does when they first visit your page. Its interesting to see how they look. I know for me I always zoom down posts - then click on about me and look down side bar.

I'll have a play with the sizing over next few days and would really appreciate your feed back of how it looks.

My head is sore from study I'm burning the candle a tad trying to get into year 2 intake in May for Naturopathy course. That will mean I've completed year 1 in 9 months when it should of taken me 2 years. My garden has been neglected that's for sure.

    2. I was reading this blog post yesterday in my desktop computer at home. I'm at work with my laptop and I don't have a problem at all with the size of your blog. Monitor at home is 19 inches and this one is 15 inches.
Hmmmm! Maybe you don't need to do anything at all with the sizing of your blog, just leave it as is. Why mess up a good thing.

    1. Abbey said the sizing is fine on her ipad too, fine on laptops here and also desktop. I wonder if it is a browser issue we use chrome. But I;ll have a fiddle with the size.
Know the feeling of waiting for marks just handed in a YUCKY assignment first one I didn;t enjoy (legal terms so for a right brained person that is B O R I N G) but important. I hope I passed.

  8. Interesting. I find your blog interesting, you have a relaxing way of writing & a real mix of topics. In a way your blog is like an on line diary.
I am interested to try this, as a professional quilter I wonder what they would make of my blog?

    1. Thanks for lovely feed back - I think my eclectic and um as the kids say random eccentric personality kinda comes through on the blog. Bit like this morning us girls chasing the new bloomen sheep around the property in designer Peter Alexander PJ's and gumboots - as one does.
Let me know how your peek goes. It's fun aye.

  9. Hello Leanne
Have been reading your blog for a while now, (you have/had beautiful cats so what's not to like about it) it shows up beautifully on the iPad not so on our PC. Have to scroll over to see the far right column.
Following your suggestion I had PEEK have a look at my blog, now either my man was playing dumb or he really had no idea what a blog was. Came from the subcontinent, which didn't help with understanding what he was saying. He just kept saying, this is a blog over and over again, and these are books. Did make one suggestion, which I've taken on board so yes, fun it was but I would have like more than ‘It's a blog!’ Might do a post on it next week sometime.
    Take care
    Cathy

  10. Your blog shows perfectly on my iPad but on my 13in laptop, even in full screen, I have to scroll just a bit to the right to see the last sidebar. Tried on the OH's 17in and it was the same, thought it may be because we usually use Safari, but it's Safari on the iPad too.

That said, I don't mind having to 'wiggle over' for the right sidebar :) Undecided if I'll send mine to Peek, lol. As far as content, I like the blog just the way it is and I tend to gravitate towards blogs that are 'samplers' of everyday life and tend to shy away from any that are one subject only. I truly enjoy reading your posts!

    1. I took off goodreads as if folks want to see what I read they can follow the "g" at top. But otherwise I've left it as is hopefully sits on screens better now.
