Gardening and books

I've had two blissful days working in the garden and as I work I listen to audio books.
A pair of tuis's have befriended me and come and sit right next to me while I work just like starlings often will. It really has been thrilling. So wish I had my camera to show the family and you all  just how close the tuis sit. Magical!

I',m sometimes amazed just why I pick a book - maybe it is because we have had a year of minimalist living and the commercialism at this time of year has been bombarding. I am soo thrilled I picked up this book. So much so that I've brought a paper copy. Listening on audio to graphs being read out can be a bit mind numbing so a hard copy would be better to read. But both Brent and I have listened to it on audio and oh wow the conversations it has sparked in the home. SOO thrilled I came across this book at the end of our homeschooling years - we have done a lot of studies on life finances using MathUsee and YNAB. Homeschoolers I'd put this on your teens reading lists!.In fact every teen should read it (but they may see teachers and grading in a new light).

OOOH my My Notorious Life is a grabbing read - got me from the first sentence I'm only up to chapter 10 so far but really enjoying it.

  3. That bird is just gorgeous. Love his little silvery shawl and the poofy necklace hanging there in front is wonderful.

    1. We have some really stunning birds here in New Zealand My husband has planted many native trees and the birds are now living at our place. We are having a big problem with the birds eating the fruit... some serious netting is going to have to happen here. They got all this years cherries we missed the harvest date by one day! We will pick the plums not quite ripe to try and beat the birds.
