Christmas Eve

On the work front it's a really busy time of year for Brent, just Christmas eve and the Stat days off. However he does have the last laugh - 3 weeks off in February when every one else is back at work & usually better weather too.

Christmas at our place is a very low key event - We are totally off the commercial bandwagon with all the pressure to over spend. A few gifts shared with immediate family, ham on toast, picnic inside or outside depending on the weather.
Mack being a young fellow at heart loves to open his Christmas presents with us.

He loves to open presents that aren't his as well as his own

Stella gets very excited -Yay she says.
I don't know how it came about -  but we said lets open one present Christmas Eve morning and before we knew it another and another was opened. So naughty but such fun!
Notice the lower section of our Christmas tree has no decorations- this stops our 4 legged family members pinching them when you aren't looking.
We saved some presents to open on Christmas day.

Abbey made yummy vegetarian sushi for lunch

with her new sushi maker kit  - a drop of soy sauce, a touch of wasbi too (Very very nice)  and it was the traditional ham on toast for dinner.

Farm Stay Guests.

A few Christmas treats for the farm stay guests too - turkey and giblets fancy feast with mice for breakfast and for dinner some roast turkey

Wishing each and every blog reader and friends of Cottage Tails
a very Merry Christmas.
May your celebrations be wonderful, magical
and wrapped up with love.

  1. Looks like a very relaxing Christmas. That's what we're planning here as well. My Mom's dog Molly loves to open presents too, so we usually just let her open them all one by one! It's great fun for us all.
    Have a wonderful week!

  3. mack is so funny! each year when we put our tree up, teddy picks up one of her toys and places it under the tree. and this is a pup that hardly looks at her toys! she will get some big bones tomorrow so i anticipate her walking around endlessly trying to find a place to bury them. a sushi maker??? i have never seen one before. that is just too cool. i might need one of those! have a wonderful christmas in the sun! we got some snow today...perfect!

    1. Mack likes to bury his chewy bones too I suppose Teddy gets to bury hers in snow. Abbey tells me Amazon has sushi makers on sale (she is the queen of on line shopping) The sushi maker makes it soo much easier than using a mat. Yes we had a sunny day everyone was hot and spent the afternoon in doors some of us snoozing catching up on lost sleep. Have a lovely Christmas day today over there. It must be so cosy having Christmas when it snows. Love to all, leanne and family.

    1. Merry Christmas Julie and Poppy Q. We have to lock Stella in her cage when Mack comes in the lounge as she doesn't like to share her toys with Mack She is funny and will pick up her toys and sit in her bed waiting for the door to be shut when Mack comes in. Hope you have some days off in the days ahead. Raining up here this am (good for garden) Love Leanne

  6. Merry Christmas Leanne and family! Can you tell me how you do your ham on toast? that sounds yummy. I'm sure it's really simple, but I'm a like-to-have-instructions kind of girl. :-)

    1. Hi Rachel nothing fancy - just plain old carved off the bone ham on toast. Brent's dad always made Christmas dinner and this was it so it's stuck. Thanks for Christmas card - I'm shocking at sending any out and once again not sent any.
