Star Scrappy quilt

James' new queen size bed arrived and I nearly got the quilt top finished.

I'm pretty happy how in the end I extended the quilt from a single to a queen. (blog post here about this here)

I made nine patches for the borders, but didn't like them so unpicked them all. GASP!

In the end I just made more filler blocks for the sides. I was sooooo greatful that I just had enough background fabric By that I mean I have one 4 1/2 inch block left over and two strips of 2 1/2 inch.
That was close aye!

What a real labour of LOVE it was unpicking the green scrappy borders. Even though I was careful unpicking some of the seams came apart and lots of resewing the ends had to happen.

This weekend I hope to move out the lounge furniture so I can begin tacking the quilt, Then machine quilting the quilt can begin.

Next is stripping all of James wallpaper and the decorating of his room will begin.(it shows in photos we have started)

Liking up to Finish it up Friday over at Crazy Mom Quilts.

    1. I've been talking to James and he has agreed to quilt it for me using a long arm. he can use a profile cutter which works along the same concept as following a lazer beam so is happy to quilt it.
Should happen in the next few weeks. FUN aye

  3. Looks great. My stash is now a lot smaller after all my coaster sewing. It's a good thing we buy just a little more than we need isn't it. Happy decorating.

  4. One marathon job. James, waiting is all ;part of the fun. Leanne, the bike light is in Rotorua, and Josh is thrilled, says many ,many thanks to you and the " Bike Shop". Unpicking, far worse than original sewing, lovely pattern, suits James so well. Greetings to all, Jean.

    1. So thrilled your grandson likes the light. Sorry way behind in emails/comments been an interesting week at our place - one for the memory banks! Yes unpicking is not my favourite thing to do in the world but much prefer to unpick than look at something I know I am not happy with.

    1. Thanks Karen - thats what I thought. Even though I had cut up all the background I don;t think I would of had enough fabric to make more star blocks so really thrilled I just had enough for filler blocks.
